Do mean getting rid of the click track didn't help, or reverting to 12.4?

most of my errors in 12 have been when editing. Clicking warp markers, clip gain and slicing up audio.

I tried disabling the light in the click. no help. still got the 9173. it was very intermittent like before.

the kicker for me was when I tried to open a session from a few weeks ago. It was at 24/96 and 16 tracks plus a few AUX busses, etc. The first time I opened it pro Tools 12.5 froze. My mouse would move but the system was hung. power cycle and tried again and this time it froze on startup. power cycle and tried again. this time it came up but would not play the session at all. 9173 immediately. nothing helped.

uninstalled 12.5, rebooted, reinstalled 12.4.

Works just fine. So I'll wait for 12.6 (or probably even longer). 12.5 blows.

Seems less stable than 12.4 for me as well. Crashes sporadically during simple edits in dense sessions. This would also happen in 12.4 but it seems to have picked up a bit with this install. Twice today already.

Been working with 12.5 for a couple weeks now. Mac Pro 12-core, HD Native Card, basically every plug known to man, Yosemite, no VI's running, quite a bit of editing, but no elastic audio nor beat detective.

Had done a fresh install of everything onto an internal SSD...didn't copy anything from a previous drive...every plugin downloaded from each manufacturer's website.

Pretty much running flawlessly. Perhaps one crash per day, but many days no crashes at all.

I'm very puzzled as to why some of you are having such problems.

Johnnyv... no VI's heh.. are you working from ssd or mechanical drives? I wil try creating a ram disk today and test running a session from that. That will speed up the auto-save. My .ptx files are fairly big. 15mb is one of them. If that works better I will order a ssd for my sessions.

Audiofarm,

Good point to raise here.

I'm on a 12 core old style tower running at 3.xx GHZ. I have one of my four drive bays holding an SSD for my System Drive and a second bay holding a different SSD for my record drive. I keep auto-save on every five minutes (or less...I'll have to check when I'm at the studio today).

Again, your having "nightmares" for some reason. For many PC users it is running fine and not having those issues.

Id like to see how fine its running. Or are they just dealing with it? Or maybe protools 12 only likes certain chipsets. Avid needs to inform us of those things if so.

Under any heavy editing it will throw access violations. I even stripped out all 3rd party and it still did it. That was on 12.4 too.

Fresh install of windows 7 and sp1. My setup is nothing special. Just an i7 3770k, ds3h gigabyte board, 16 gigs of matched ddr 3. SSD drive. All optimizations done.

11.3.2 runs like a charm. None of these issues. Why is 12 so different? I think 12 is just hardware picky. Im trying to get up some extra cash for a new setup. Just had a brand new baby and people keep cancelling so im short on cash.
