Default sandra report

I'm trying to get my act together so I can at least provide enough info for going through this learning curve of getting all the bugs out of my system etc. Having come the Roland VS side of recording I am finding out what they mean about computer based being so much more complicated- I've never done so much downloading and authorizing- it's all new and confusing. But I'm not complainig. I'm definitely believing that taking the leap over here is the best thing I could have done for my recording interests. That said...

I'm trying to simply figure out how to generate a Sandra report so I can give all info you guys need when helping me. But I can't even figure out how to this!! When I click download Sandra lite it takes me to a page that is not clear on what I'm supposed to do next- says download sites with a ton of different listings. Could someone tell me what to do?
Thanks
Jim

OK- I feel stupid- I 'm downloading it now.... The first download site I went to wasn't real clear what I was doing there. Now I will continue fumbling through trying to figure out how to actually use it.

This is all greek to me... I'd appreciate someone reviewing this and giving feedback on any incompatabilites, problems, etc.

Running this with 002r, 7.1
Appears to be working fine, a few bugs include:

Launching PT I get the "update firmware message", have tried to update several times, it doesn't go away. I close the box and it continues.

Just discovered yesterday the evidently "known bug" of play/pause, trouble beginning playback.

I bought Rennaisance Maxx; I had to install vocal bundle for the Native Tune plug- I get a message that stops PT launch everytime related to vocal bundle- can I uninstall the vocal bundle and not mess up the Tune plug?

Digidesign sent me message saying I can free update to 7.3- sort of scared to do this because I read posts about problems people have after upgrading- now I'm seeing 7.3.1, or 7.4- please advise on what I should do about this.

I'd appreciate any comments on this system and suggestions if there's anything I ought to do to improve it.
Thanks

Have you tried all the steps in the Win XP/ Pro Tools 6.x/7.x General Troubleshooting thread yet?

What are those Sony USB devices listed? Flash drives? If so, you may want to try removing those when using Pro Tools.

Is the 002 connected directly to a firewire port on the computer? If so, do you have another firewire port you could try? Are you using the original firewire cable? Have you tried a different cable yet?

OK, so you can start PT and record or not ?

I will go through and check top see if I did EVERYTHING in the troubleshooting guide. I think when i initially set it up I was using the PT Dummies book, then when I saw the trouble shooting guide it looked like a lot of the same stuff, so I sort of skipped through it. Point taken.

I don't know what the Sony USB devices are (as you can see, I'm not real computer savvy). This computer was a Media Center that I put XP on. As far as flash drives or devices, there's nothing connected to the computer, not using any of those. Is there something I should do to remove these?

Yes the 002r is connected directly. I replaced the original Firewire port with with the current one per recommendation of getting qualified one, and it only had one port. There's one more available on that card- I don't know if that is considered another port to try. I'm using the firewire cable that came with the 002r (new).

Yep, it works fine. Just have to close that box everytime it launches. I've seen a couple of others here with the same issue.

Some general advice would be to create a new "Hardware Profile" labeled "Pro Tools" and disable all of the Sony Media Card Reader ports in Protools by right clicking them in the Device Manager Hardware tab. Changing the open ended recording allocation to 10 minutes or less can help speed up speed up transport response immensely.

EDIT: The USB devices listed are a Media Card Reader

If it wants to update the firmware let it do so. Make sure you plugged into a uninterruptible power supply as you dont want it to stall halfway through if the power fails. Be advised the Firmware Update can take 20 minutes or more to complete.

I have run the firmware update a few times. It appears to run completely, finishes, yes, it takes a while.
