Default 003 Rack standalone not right in Win 7

Update: The Win7 driver offerings from Avid gave me problems. I discovered that the old 002/003 standalone drivers worked for me just fine. Ignore the original post below. Or not. ;-)

----original post------------------
I must be missing something. I have upgraded from my crashed XP box to a hot new Windows 7 machine. I installed the 003 Rack standalone drivers (not wanting any ProTools anywhere near!), and the Digidesign 003 Rack shows up in the devices list dynamically when I turn it on and off. So far so good. But I can't get it to make a single peep. It can't be specified in any audio devices list, and indeed, it appears nowhere in the system except in the Hardware devices list. So, how will I ever use it with my Sonar and Kyma software??? I'm really stuck. Anybody have any suggestions?
