Default Digital input split

Hi All.

I was wondering if there is a way to use 1 input rack to feed 2 consoles (ie: FOH and Monitors). Any help is much appreciated

Cheers,

Gerard.

I think it is possible in a couple of way's, however, it isn't that elegant. Firstly, I believe that although the digital stage rack isn't sending a Madi signal, some success has been had using an RME Madi interface to split signals, which console controls the Mic pre gain's I'm not sure, but I would search these forums as I am sure it has been discussed. Secondly, using a Madi card out from the FOH/Mon to a madi card input on the other console with the inputs reversed to HDX inputs would allow you to access the same material, gain changes on the first console would effect both desks though.

I had that thought, which I would configure to be that monitors have gain, but it is probably easier and cheaper to just use analog splits.

My vote...is for the analog split. On occation, I do shows using the MADI split. Fairly simple...honestly. Connect stage rack to primary VENUE (will have gain control, obviously). Then use the madi card to deliver the split to mon...or wherever the split is needed. You can either use fiber or BNC's. It is great, because you can incorporate this with other digital consoles...I've done it with a Yamaha PM5D and also DiGiCo SD8. Worked like a charm each time. The hardest part was explaining how it worked to the producers...Hahaha
