extra time at the end of your song
Ok... I let the metronome go for a while so I could play and practice with a click at the end of a song... now how do I get rid of all the extra minutes and have the end of the track only a few seconds after the end of the waves?

why does it matter? it's just empty space right?

Re: extra time at the end of your song
I get the same thing too. I found out that somehow extra volume edit points get put way down the line (like 20 minutes after the song is done). I have to find them all and delete them. It makes bouncing to disk a pain, cause you'll have 20 minutes of dead air at the end of the bounce (if you don't select the area of the song you want to bounce first).

Re: extra time at the end of your song
When bouncing set you in and out to the desired time. You won't get all that extra time caused by automation. You can also select from the desired end of the track to the "real" end of the track with CTRL - SHIFT - RETURN while viewing the automation track in EDIT. Then delete it. That will get rid of any automation points.

Re: extra time at the end of your song
My mistake on highlighting to the end of the song's data. OPTION-SHIFT-RETURN. Do that from a position just after your song on all tracks while viewing automation data envelopes and delete.

Re: extra time at the end of your song
the larger issue here is how these control points are added in the first place. they can be as far as 10 minutes or so down the road.

Re: extra time at the end of your song
I feel your pain. That happens to me when working with MIDI. Sometimes I'll cut of the end of a recording, but Pro Tools treats the tracks as if data is still there. I'd like to get rid of the dead space because hitting apple+zoom includes the unused track space. Same problem with double clicking a track to select it.
Anyone know how to get Pro Tools to recognize that the data/waves are gone?
