Default Buying a new rig using PT10

Hello everyone,

I've been working on PC for the last 10 years using Nuendo and am finally ready to make the transition. My old machine is nearing the end of its days and it is time to upgrade. I've been doing my research but have been having a hard time finding certain answers with regards to compatibility. What I would like build is as follows:

MacBook Pro 15"
- 750gb 7200 or 128gb SSD?
- 8Gb ram
- 2.6Ghz Quad proc
Focusrite Saffire Pro 40
Pro Tools 10
Lacie 1TB Thunderbolt/USB3.0 drive for audio
M-audio Keystation49

So my questions are;

Does anyone have a similar setup running stable?

Anyone using Thunderbolt for their session drive?

I will be using this setup at home and to do live recordings or sessions on location. Thanks for any help that may come my way, look forward to this new investment.

Hi Dr. I'm running PT10.2 on 15" Mac Book pro with an OWC Mercury Elite 7200/500 gig FW 800 external drive. I've used it to record everything from full orchestra to 16 channels of analog for rock to vocal overdubs. It's been very stable with a Digi002 and Mackie Onyx 800r.

I think you'll enjoy it.

Ted

Thanks for the input MZKguy. I hoping I can get a few more posts from anyone running a Thunderbolt drive from LaCie?

Also wondering, now, about anyone running a MBP retina with Thunderbolt to firewire for their Focusrite units and a Thunderbolt drive or USB 3 drive?

I would rather not throw out the cash for a thunderbolt drive through Apple if it's not really worth it. I would then go with one of the recommended external drives by Avid.

Thanks for the help.
