Passive or Active D.I.
What up DUC! What is the best D.I. for Guitar and Bass? Passive? Active? I'm on a tight budget. I swear It seems like I'm on welfare! So back to the D.I. issue.I have the Whirlwind Director but need another and didn't want to spend that much again unless it makes that much of a difference. I heard the Radial stuff is pretty hot but can't afford it. HELP PLEASE THANX

Re: Passive or Active D.I.
Radial just came out with a new $100 DI but I haven't heard it. One important spec is the input impedance. The higher it is, the less loading it will have on the instrument. This can be critical with an acoustic instrument which may have a really weak piezo pickup. Look for an input impedance of 1 meg ohm or higher. Personally, for cost effectiveness-the Director(and Direct2) are great. If you want something special(later when $ permits) try the new Ampeg tube DI or the Avalon.
