Default Vista Ultimate 64 (the ultimate dissapointment)

Hi, I have spent a weekend attempting to get Protools, Reason & Record, and Live ..as well as my IK multimedia plugs all working together within the environment known as Vista Ultimate 64

I have enjoyed much beer through this rather dismal experience...bad magic exists and it's in my present config

I'm bringing things back to XP pro today...ha ha...a land where everything worked...peacefully

what have been folks experiences using Vista Ultimate 64 and PT LE 8 (and 8.03)

just curious...(as I'm running away from it like the plague...I'll keep a version on my laptop...as it certainly is pretty...cough cough)

Cheers

For the most part, ANY 64 bit OS is not going to bring you happiness for the immediate future. Anyone that would recommend using 64 bit Windows should either share the tips to actually make it work, or pay more attention(not a slam on you as its easy to receive bad advice from any number of sources). I'm perfectly happy to remain on XP for now, with an eye on Win7. (32 bit, that is).

Why do people keep assuming Pro Tools works in Vista 64?

Did you ever work with Pro Tools before? Did you really think a 64 bit version of windows wouldn't be a problem for pro tools to run?
We're talking about an audio software that will NOT work if you don't have the right motherboard brand, or the right firewire card model with a specific version of drivers...

Yes, perhaps sometime after the release of W7 we'll see the 64bit drivers.
