IDK. I can't think of any reason why one would need to link track and edit selection in order for a solo/mute shortcut to work, though. Only in order to be able to change tracks without using the pointer device. The opt-shift-click thing I know about. But does shift-s really solo selected tracks without having to use the pointer? I'll have to remember to try that on my home system. Doesn't work in 7.3 for sure.
