Changing from Mbox 2 to Digi003 Rack+ ??
I am running Pro Tools 8 LE on a Mac with a Mbox 2 as my interface. I am interested in getting the ability to have more inputs so I am wondering if I am able to pick up a 003 rack+ off a site like ebay and successfully start using it in a "plug and play" type fashion?
Are there drivers or software that need to be included? It's been such a long time since i installed Pro Tools originally that I don't recall every little step for linking up the interface with the computer and etc. Please let me know if buying one and switching interfaces is possible and easy or if some jumping through hoops is required....or if I am off in left field and this may not be something that is even possible. Thanks! |

Google "digi 003r drivers" and "digi 003r install instructions".

You even might avoid installing any extra driver as such a one will mess up your system finally. You did not say which version of LE8 you are using. Pro Tools LE 8.0.5 on a fully updated OSX Snow Leopard 10.6.8 will be the latest and most preferrable configuration though. In the case you would want to update your system to this one you may not forget to install this little extra OSX update as well. https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399?...ewlocale=en_US If you would need the installers for LE8.0.4 (full version) and LE8.0.5 (update) you may go there. http://secure.digidesign.com/service...rticleId=43353 Again, don´t install any extra drivers. All hardware drivers were included in the LE8 installers already. Means, if plug and play with the 003 will not work on your existing system as it is supposed to, please, don´t search for any specific driver but just go to reinstall your Pro Tools LE8. The best of success to you. |

Re: Changing from Mbox 2 to Digi003 Rack+ ??
Thanks VRW!
I did a substantial amount of research before I ask this question and did see Avid listed a note that the drivers were included on my PT8LE install disk. I still thought I should ask this community though as I am sure someone has made this type of transition in the past and could pass some valuable knowledge on to me. The links you have included and info are great. I am using PT 8.0.4 LE on OSX 10.6.5 so I think I should be in good shape to make this transition in the future. Thanks again for the input! |
