PT 18.1- GUI Lag when playhead on screen
Ayone else notice sluggish GUI playback when playhead is on screen? Once the playhead is off the screen, the UI/meters/counter speeds up significantly and feels good. Tried all scrolling modes. Trashed prefs, waveform chache, etc. Tried disabling all my tracks too. Fairly simple session, just 7-8 vocal tracks and a instrumental. Loading same session back in 10HD it is perfectly fast. Also seems like when i click/hold a section on the edit screen, then highlighted region is slow to catch up to where my cursor actually is.
Mix window is sluggish too in same circumstance, but when you close the edit window (or playhead advances off screen) it goes back to normal. fyi-using 10.9.5, loading PT in low-res mode, 2014 MBPr maxed out. System CPU % seems normal. Not sure what else to try... *also when i highlighted a group of clips to drag to another section while playing back, PT crashes. This is repeatable... |

Go to Sierra. Solid with 12.8.3 and 2018.1 (so far on that one since I only put that on today). 2018.1 has other fixes (and a lot more features.) Features always = potential for new bugs so I'm not swearing by that one yet. But I have the two co-installed so if 18.1 is problematic, I can work in 12.8.3. You just install 12.8.3, change the name of Pro Tools (I usually only add the version number) and then install the new version and they can both be on the same computer.
