Default Advice for track organisation for mixing film

Hi,

I need advice on how to organize track for film mixing.
I have seen pro sound Editor NOT organizing boom track By actor of the film.
Is it the right way to do this ? Or must we edit and organize boom track by Actor ?

Sorry for the newbie question, I've got knowledge on music and News / documentary, but not enough on film ;-)

I don't want this to sound dismissive, but you're asking a big question, and it deserves a big answer. Check out John Purcell's famous book "Dialog Editing for Motion Pictures." He tackles this topic and many others.

Short answer is no, in most live action don't organize by actor. In animation, yes. There are many exceptions obviously.
