I think the problem is with ones who use a third party and not Avid's own development kit.

True.

And I wouldn't want to start a flame war here, but I just have to mention Waves... They just don't realise they would not even exist if there wasn't Digidesign/Avid to make it possible. It was great to be able to use Waves TDM but now ... a different story.

But back to the point, if a 3rd party developer followed Avid guidelines and didn't take shortcuts, the plugs would be great. Sonnox is a good example, those are just as good as Avid's (tech-wise)

It's more a matter of agility than anything else...

Those that were able to quickly change course to deal with the issues that came up right before PT 11 came out have product out there.

Those who couldn't adapt...

I do not work for Avid (their loss)...my only relationship with Avid is that of a customer (when I'm not too poor to buy stuff, like now)...and that hot administrative assistant...that's more of a "thing" than a "relationship" (that should keep them guessing for a while...)

Just rockin'...what more is there?

Knowing Apple, they can be expected to completely stop supporting 32 bit applications in the near future so I can't imagine they aren't the main party driving the schedule. An unfortunate bit of timing was the monster ilock hack that financially crippled many plug-in developers right around the time they would have needed to begin tackling AAX.

Ditto.

I understood the need for PT10/PT11 to co-exist, but not PT11/PT12. And everyone may assume Avid will never support PT10/PT12 co-install because PT10 support ended with Mountain Lion and one could guess PT12 support starts with Yosemite.

That said; whether someone makes it work is another story. Avid supporting the config however, is what is important.

No. Anyone who knows mustn't talk, anyone who talks mustn't know.

However, I have let myself understand that a US publicly traded company must deliver within a quarter after something has been announced, so my best guess would be just before April Fools' Day.

Again, just a guess.

Am still on 10.3.8 (9), 11 was to laggy and sluggish because of my graphic card....

But PT 11 was much faster and stable, so a new graphic card is the next for me and probably some other out there.

Waves did something smart.... they lead the digital industry into the Live world where they have so many more platforms and # of overall systems using their plugins than the recording studios using PT... Joining up with Digico and going with the Soundgrid plugins was genius... Avid decided to develop a proprietary plugin code (go figure) and WAVES doesn't need the small # of PT HD rigs out there to continue making money while Avid is simply skimming by. Waves doesnt need Avid and Avid is no longer Digidesign...

If you really want to run Waves then get a black box and do it.... or just run them native since most of the customers are running Vinilla anyway
