Re: Eleven Rack Expansion Pack v1 - Countdown To Awesomeness!!

I dont know of any reason you would need PT installed on your PC just to be able to upgrade the rack. Im pretty sure You will need the Eleven Rack drivers installed though. And why not go ahead and install PT, it comes with your 11R, and will give you access to the Eleven Rack Window, and PT is the best (IMO) DAW for Recording and Mixing.

Re: Eleven Rack Expansion Pack v1 - Countdown To Awesomeness!!
I think it's countdown to "awesome-er-ness" because the 11R as-is is already awesomeness.

Re: Eleven Rack Expansion Pack v1 - Countdown To Awesomeness!!
Glad you guys are as excited about ERXP as we are. I am curious how many of you have cross graded or are planning to cross grade to Pro Tools 9?
Best, Max |

Re: Eleven Rack Expansion Pack v1 - Countdown To Awesomeness!!
Sorry max, gonna have to sell me on PT... I'm a longtime cubase user and still pretty happy with it. Is there something extra special in this crossgrade for a guy who just isn't sure?

Love both the 11R and PT. I know everyone says DAWs are supposed to sound the same, but I find the low end and low mids much clearer and easier to deal with in PT than in Logic, and I love the integration with the 11R, especially the embedded tracks -- brilliant! Vince |

Max:
We have PT in the house, but I don't use it. I gave PT (the one that came with my 11R) to Mrs. TDD; we bought the crossgrade to PT9. Mrs. TDD is a big fan of PT. Me: I prefer a hardware multitracker. My recording needs are trivial; a dedicated unit keeps down the cost, complexity and maintenance. |

I crossgraded directly after the live stream from AES. Actually, halfway through the live stream I was already sold on it, but I was trying to convince myself to wait everything out till people had thoroughly put it through its paces. Ended up not being able to wait, and I haven't been more happy. While I had PT8, I found myself bouncing between Ableton Live and PT, straying more to the Ableton Live side. I also bought Logic Pro and Reaper trying to find something that fit my needs best. Since PT9, my main has become PT, especially for mixing and editing. I hit up Ableton Live for composing purposes, mainly because of it's non-linear structure in "Session" mode and the "Freeze Tracks" feature. And of course, all my projects hit PT at one point or another. And it has pretty much left Logic and Reaper to collect dust. Though I may bring out Reaper to capitalize on 64bit capabilities, since Logic can't do Rewire. I am now happily using an RME Fireface 800 as the main interface, with the Eleven Rack as my main guitar processor. I'd like to thank you Max, and of course everyone at Avid, for listening to our needs, and for making PT9 the final nail in the coffin that keeps me on PT. And I'd also like to say that I will be purchasing the ERXP the minute it is released.
