Default P & G faders

Mackie & Emagic have just announced the first product resulting from their strategic partnership, a controller for Emagic's Logic.

The amazing thing is......... they have done something on it REALLY RIGHT!

The controller features 100mm motorised, touch sensitive digital / optical Penny & Giles faders with 1024 step resolution. Need I say more?

It so happens that there is nothing on this planet - apart from my girlfriend - that feels as smooth as a Penny & Giles fader. There is also nothing as reliable as a P & G fader.

Now Digi, I know you must have spend half a fortune on developing PC's patented faders, but from a sales, marketing and customer satisfaction point of view, please swallow your pride and go to P & G for some real faders? I can assure you that it would make a lot of people very happy.
You can't say that it will be to expensive ..
It might just give you a small justification for the absurd cost of PC.

By the way, I am not comparing PC to the Mackie controller at all, but it will hit the market for under 800 bucks.

Hmmmm,

P&G wishes they had the Digi Fader.
It's an *ALL* digital fader with no analog
component. It has no resistive plastic or
cabon with a wiper surface to wear out.

I've used P&G, Panasonic, Sellmark, and a Sony fader that had a linear motor.

The Sony and the Digi Fader were a toss up.
P&G, sheesh, give me a break.
At one time they wanted to Lic. the Digi Fader. They can't go to an all digital fader unless they pay Digi.

Hi,

The Digi Fader is *NOT* a P&G fader.
It was designed by Digi and Digi holds the
patent on the fader design.

Check the US Patent and Trademark site
for the Digi Fader.

The Sony linear motor fader isn't a P&G
either.

P&G still uses conductive plastic or cabon in their faders and require an A/D converter for positional information. Digi uses a rotary encoder for position and reads the positional information with no A/D conversion.

Either way there should be a stampede towards the new Emagic console by Logic users. Shame we couldnt keep em on the ProControl & C24..
