S6 slow to bank tracks
Hey guys,
Curious about something. Working on an S6 M40 with 4 fader modules and other modules. When either banking one track at a time, 8 at a time, or the whole surface, the response time is very slow, maybe 2 seconds for the system to bank over. This doesn't seem right. Is there anything I can check or update to improve the speed of the console? Other console recalls like spilling VCA's, expanding to knobs or faders, or calling up any sends, eq's, etc seems to work rather quickly. It's only banking that's slow. Thanks for your help. |

Re: S6 slow to bank tracks
Does it get faster the 2nd time, after you have banked over and back once ?

Re: S6 slow to bank tracks
Hi Eddie. It actually seems to get works the more times I press the bank switch. I rebooted the whole system as well as each panel.
Thanks for the reply Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: S6 slow to bank tracks
is the Mac/PC bogging down/over loaded ? How many tracks/plugins are you running ? Is there a warning icon on the Workstation page ?

Re: S6 slow to bank tracks
Mac seems fine to respond. Not a huge session. I can send you an empty session with all the plugs being used.
Any S6 diagnostics I can send you? Everything else seems responsive on the S6. It’s just banking. It’s strange. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: S6 slow to bank tracks
Can you look at the Pro Tools gas gauges and post where they are at ?

Re: S6 slow to bank tracks
Sure thing. Here you go. Interestingly, when I reduce the amount of ram usage in Pro Tools, the banking improves. Also, depending on what’s being displayed on the display module affects the speed of banking as well. Is this a bandwidth issue with data being transferred between PT and the S6? Router? Cables? Thanks for your help.

Re: S6 slow to bank tracks
This is usually the Workstation running out of recourses (CPU/Memory etc.) How much RAM do you have on the system ?

Re: S6 slow to bank tracks
64GB. Have to double check. Originally PT was allocated 45GB but was only running at 65% usage. I reduced the allocation and things seem to be running leaner. I’ll keep an eye on it. Is there a recommended % of ram usage for PT with an S6?

Re: S6 slow to bank tracks
That might have been it. That wouldnt have left much for the OS, other services and S6 WSControl.
