I think we just have to wait and see...I am optimistic about this being an "under the hood" fix b/c of what the stories have said about it.... it's at the kernel OS level.

I don't see how that could affect PT that much..... that being said I am ready with backups of my backups.....

I was more concerned with the Performance hit....I had heard one comment that someone posted on another forum about affecting the I/O speed of data....but honestly I don't know if that's even remotely true.

- If it's 30% people will notice........

.
Systems with higher I/O usage will see more of a hit. Performance hits in PT are my biggest concern as well. I am not gonna be the first PT user to update in this case LOL.

Yes that’s the quote, I also heard Pre Haswell gen CPUs are more susceptible than Post Haswell CPUs.

Once again I am not sure if that is accurate info either.

Never pays to be the first to update

I have already read a couple different performance tests on midrange Windows systems. There is literally nothing showing to be a problem. A couple specific indicators are showing a very minor hit on drives, but basically irrelevant and nothing that would affect us. Ram tests are showing no difference at all.

Are these tests being done with the beta patch that went out to their testing crews?

Just the public release patch. This flaw was discovered over 6 months ago. They had been working on this fix for awhile. It just went public though and we are just finding out. The fix was pretty well ready to go for both OSX and Windows when it was announced. Tests are coming out from bloggers/tech writers who normally do this stuff.
