Default Prospective New User - MBox System Question

I'm thinking about buying an MBox (I'm a musician, not an engineer) for personal recording. I'd like to know if it's compatible with a Dell Inspiron 4000 laptop running at exactly 1ghz. I also have an iBook I could use, but would prefer to use the Dell if possible. All other specs (hard drive, O/S, memory, etc...) are met, but the spec sheet warned against using "older Dell laptops under 1ghz".

Anyone have input as to the performance and compatibility I can expect with the MBox?

Thanks in advance -- Charles Crolley
