get dc30+ it's a lot hipper since there is no lockup time.

i use the v1 and it's pretty cool with the machine control option but no where as fast as the avbv or the dc 30

leighman,
We've been using V1 with PT for about 6 months now and it's awesome. I don't know about the Miro cards, etc. With PT 5.0's serial time code capabilities, it only takes the V1 a few frames to lock up. I have mine set for a 10 frame preroll, and lock is almost instantaneous. I honestly don't notice the lag time anymore.
Also, we keep a secondary 4.5 gig drive with all of our video demos on it. At 2:1, the video looks great, and it saves tons of head wear on our D5's and Digibetas.
BE SURE TO FIGURE IN THE COST OF A HARD DRIVE. IT DOESN'T COME WITH ONE. (Here's 6G's mr. doremi guy... What! No Hard drive!!!??? )
And on the subject of the Miro card etal, is it easy to split the signal out to many monitors? We have 2 client monitors, an editor's monitor and a talent monitor in the booth. Easily done with the miro? What about capture/render time? Just curious...

v1 rocks, but I don't use it with PT machine control, I use a MicroLynx.

...and I like that so much that I use the lynx as the master for radio spots instead of using PT transport.

Default DoRemi Labs V1 Digital Video Player ans PT

Trying to eliminate Miro card and digital video from PCI buss (fancy that !)

I have used the Doremi Labs V1 outboard Digital video player with automated consoles mixing to picture...if anyone has input on using it with Protools ( along with Protools machine control option) I would appreciate it.It has a hefty price but the unit is amazing (and who needs Digi's AV option hogging more PCI bandwith)

spigots,
The Miro card has only one output, so unless you can put all monitors on a single loop (usually not practical with multiple rooms) you will need a video distribution amp. No big deal, really, and worth the price. I've seen decent ones for 100 to 150 bucks. You don't need to spend a lot for a high resolution type. Normal NTSC or PAL doesn't need or use the extra bandwidth. HiDef does, though.

With some knowhow you can build one for next to nothing. The box and BNC connectors cost more than everything else.
