So what is the cost to upgared to 10?

Hello All:

I have a question I just order a upgrade to Protools 9 this week. Do I get a free upgarde to 10 or do I have to pay for 10?

You should be able to get a free upgrade. But you did buy the 9 upgrade after 10 came out, they might think you are trying to cheat the upgrading. you'll have to talk to a sales rep at where ever you bought 9 at

If it was bought on or after oct 1rst, there's no problem. If it was bought before that wont work. I think you'll need your proof of purchase or something. Don't know.

Right but if he bought it this week, since it was released last week that might raise an eyebrow, not sure just speculating.

There was a post from a fellow that bought the upgrade within the correct time frame, but did not register it until the 25th and they told him there would be no free upgrade...

I remember seeing somewhere that the window was between 1 and 23 Oct.

Oh yeah, that's right. Might be good for them to extend that period until they make sure there's no more pt 9 for sale out there.

Hey Thanks for the reply:

I sent a e-mail to Avid, but of course they have not sent one back. I brought from B&H on Monday. I am little disappointed with Avid, because I think the pricing is little high. I think it may be time to move on another software.

I understand wanting to move on, but think about it man, avid has always been a hardware company, and they gave you the software for paying the high price high end hardware. But we all pushed and pushed for the software to be an open program, that works with any interface we want..... well, we got it, now we have to pay for the high end software that used to be free.

Looks like that has changed, now their site just says after October 1 so he should be good.
