Digi 002: Errors -6085 and -6088
I just bought this unit a week ago, so if anyone has directions in protools, please help me out with navigating the unfamiliar menues.
My system will record for between 0 and 6 seconds; too short for stuff I hoped to put down. When the h/w buffer and DAE playback buffer are set to higher settings, the recording time will reach a maximum of 6 seconds, but then the error 6085 pops up and stops the recording... (The audio device buffer underflowed. If this occurs frequently, try decreasing the "H/W Buffer Size" in the Playback Engine panel or remove other devices from the audio firewire bus.) Decreasing the H/W Buffer Size and/or DAE playback buffer only also decreases the record time before I either get the 6085 error, or if both or one are set low enough, the 6088 error pops up. (DAE error - 6088 was encountered) I'd say I've spent a good 20 hours reading through posts, going through walk-throughs, messing with hardware settings and so on... I even bought one of the 2 suggested firewire cards hoping that would fix the problem, but it hasn't. The only fishy thing to me is that the IRQ of my Radeon 9550 is set to 16, the same as both the old and new firewire cards I've had in there. Of course, windows won't let me change the address of any card. Is this definitly my problem? Maybe having both on the same IRQ means nothing. If I buy a new video card, can I count on it suddenly being set to a different IRQ? I'm willing to upgrade this new card, but only if I'm sure it'll fix the problem. I'm sure happy to post anything I can about my computer to make this 002 and Protools get working. Please someone, tell me what you need to know, or what I need to do. I think I'm about to cry. Thank you so much, Adam |

Re: Digi 002: Errors -6085 and -6088
I used to have the 6088 problem. Mine was resolved by disabling my soundcard:

Re: Digi 002: Errors -6085 and -6088
Thanks alot for the info SumOdRsn. I gave it a shot... I think something must be interfering, but I guess the sound card wasn't it. Maybe I should just keep trying to diable stuff until it fixes it, or until someone can help me out... or until I get frustrated and go for a new video card, fingers-crossed.
Thanks again |

Re: Digi 002: Errors -6085 and -6088
Hey, question: Do you remember if your soundcard was on the same IRQ as your firewire card by chance? Did you check or anything?

Re: Digi 002: Errors -6085 and -6088
Hey Adam, what firewire card are you using?
Also, check through the General troubleshooting thread for a bunch of setup "tweaks" and suggestions, especially the one at the end about posting systems specs. It will help us help you.

Re: Digi 002: Errors -6085 and -6088
Nope, the card was on it's own IRQ. Yeah, check to make sure your firewire card has the TI chip.

Re: Digi 002: Errors -6085 and -6088
This is my firewire card:
ADS PYRO PCI 64 Part Number: API-311 Bus type: 64-bit PCI I went through the entire troubleshooting. I also put in BOTH firewire cards and that prooved me wrong... I eventually got the good firewire card to boost up to IRQ 18, since the other one was in there, so I guess the video card's IRQ doesnt'e make a diff. Same problem still. From the Compatibility page Quote:
I also think I remember someone else on this board having trouble with ASRock motherboards, but I can't be sure. A search for ASRock might turn up more details. As mentioned, try disabling (or removing, if possible) the C-Media AC97 Audio Device Also recommended to disable the VIA Compatable Fast Ethernet Adapter when using Pro Tools. Most of this stuff is covered in the General Troubleshooting thread.

Re: Digi 002: Errors -6085 and -6088
So it looks like I may need to snag another hard drive then.
Hopefully not another mother board also... that'd be a pain. I'll try messin around and reading up some more. If there's anything else anyone can think of, please let me know. Thanks a lot |
