Avid in 2015 - Naughty and Nice

The year is almost over - how do folks feel Avid did in 2015?

My perspective - I started the year as a PT 11 HD owner, but didn't upgrade to 12 HD at the start of the year. As Avid themselves said, they had to prove to the customers that the subscription would be worth it. Unfortunately, come December, HD seems of little use to all but a few select customers (such as post houses and folks that need to work with HD hardware). I sold my license in December and was very disappointed that the promise of new HD-only features to justify the cost of the very high subscription price was not kept by Avid. NAUGHTY.

However, Avid did release new updates on a pretty regular basis, including some features that have long been requested by the user base. Though these features have existed in pretty much every other DAW for years, Avid has implemented them thoughtfully (much like they did with clip gain). It seems like they might be paying attention to Ideascale again as well. Because of this, I decided to "invest" in Avid for another year and bought a PT 12 vanilla license. NICE.

So a bit of both from my perspective, but they've kept me as a customer, albeit a vanilla one. Looking forward to 2016.
