Default effects on and off

How can I make an effect sound in certain part of the songs, or certain phrases. For example, say I want an extreme reverb on one phrase, or a delay for that matter, how can indo this?

I recommend that you subscribe to this Youtube channel. You can pretty much search and find whatever you need to learn there.

Read up on automation of effects in the PT manual. Ordinarily I'd say automate the enable/disable of the plugin but with things like reverb/echo/delay you have to be aware of the tails of the effect. Cutting off a reverb will truncate the tail and not sound natural unless that's the sound you're going for. One way of solving that is automating the send level from the source track to the bus/track with the reverb on it.
