Default Flat frequency repsonse mic

I have a bluebird (blue mic) that is a flat frequency repsonse mic. I am getting a good sound out of it after I figured some things out about where it works best. But it is not terribly warm sounding right now. Currently, I am running it straight into the m Box, and not using any external devices like compressor, better pre, or eq. Does anybody have this particular mic or hints at how to properly use a flat frequency microphone? Thank you all for your help!

Raif

Who told you it was "flat"? They lied.

I had two Bluebirds for a while. Not bad little mikes, all in all.
They're not flat response mikes, just so you know.

But...they're capable of sounding pretty good through your stock preamps. They sounded good through my Digi002 pres.

At the budget end, try the FMR "really nice mic pre". At the upper end, try a UA610 or Vintech pre. The UA610 (and LA610, 6176) and the Vintech (or other Neve clone) will add a lot of character to any mic that is too uncolored (bland?)sounding. Sometimes you just need some grit.
