Does anyone know anything about that "open AVB Ethernet standard"? Is that an Avid thing or did it exist before? |

Fond it myself: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audio_Video_Bridging
Sounds interesting. Avid embracing an open standard. So this means PT will have an "Ethernet input". I would be surprised if there wasn't a catch. |

It is not an Avid thing, Avid is just one the companies who want a standart for audio networking, also harman audio group(studer, soundcraft dbx, bss) is embracing this new standard. what means you interface different products of different brand with one protocol. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t1nv1xyFtLc |

Re: News...
My understanding is that converting from one standard to another may not be that big a deal once there is general agreement on which standard it should be.

Re: News...
I would think that the E3 engine box (which if you read carefully is powered by an HDX) would be the most significant cost of the system. But I may be wrong, since I have no other info at the moment than what's on the Main website.

Re: News...
List pricing sent to dealers is as follows:
S3L System 16 $17995.- S3L System 32 $21990.- S3L System 48 $25985.- S3L System 64 $29980.- Stage 16 Remote I/O $3995.- E3 Engine $12995.- So as you see, for larger systems you pay extra exactly how much the Stage 16's costs. |

Re: News...
Do you happen to know if you can buy the surface on it's own?

Re: News...
Any avid people ? Can you gang / daisy chain 3 of the control surfaces together? 16 faders in front of me is a little small but 2 surfaces would be good. I was looking at the sc48 but I am going to check this out first.
I could use those extra aux sends.

Re: News...
No you can't. SC48 as well as other live sound products are still sold, and the edge of SC48 over the new system is more faders, rider friendliness and TDM plugins. Also the new system is capped with 20 plugin slots, much like SC48 was when it came out. So at this point, SC48 will still be more attractive to some.
