Default Mic Level and high Latency issues PT10 Mbox 3

I've had my mbox 3 for about 3 years, running pt 10 just fine. recently i've only been able to get extremely low signal level from the mic and line inputs on the mbox. and the signal that i am getting has very high latency. I've swapped out the cables and mics, phantom is on, rear input is selected. Yet even w the gain cranked the signal is very weak.
The mbox control panel shows the same weak signal that im getting in pt.
PT is the most updated version and so are the mbox drivers. I'm sure there's some setting im missing.

Kinda stumped on this one. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

When i quit pt the mbox control panel is still getting a weak signal but the latency seems to be gone.

Latency is adjusted via the playback engine buffer setting.... I dont understand why after 3 years your MBox is seeing low signal though. What has changed?

I've adjusted the buffer setting and still no change in the latency. The only thing that has changed is me upgrading to pt10. but i've had this issue since then.
The levels are fine when i play music from itunes through the mbox, but the mics and line inputs are very weak.

Ah ok... So what you want to do then is upgrade your MBox drivers... Here:

Update your drivers and then report back man.

The mbox drivers are up to date (Package 1.1.5) Could it be an issue w the Firmware? My mbox says it's Firmware:1.0.8.

Firmware should auto update when you launch PT.... Not sure what the latest version of firmware is on the MBox series, could be an issue but If your drivers are up to date Im going to say there is a chance the MBox is simply having issues.... You may try another driver version or something.. check out this link:

To update your Mbox firmware from a PowerPC or Intel-based Mac:

Download the Mbox Firmware Updater v22 for Mac OS X to your desktop, open the disk image, then quit all open applications.
With your Mbox connected, double-click on the Update Mbox Firmware v22 application.

Follow the onscreen instructions:

1) "Click Start to download firmware."
2) "Please disconnect Mbox from USB."
3) "Please reconnect Mbox to USB."
4) "Click Start to download firmware."
5) Wait until the updater has finished, and displays "Download complete. Please disconnect Mbox from USB."
6) Do that, and after the updater displays "Finished.", click OK to close the updater.

To check your Mbox firmware version, go to the Apple menu > About This Mac > More Info, which opens the System Profiler. After the firmware has been updated, it will show up in the System Profiler > Hardware > USB > Mbox USB Audio Device

As for the levels, have you accidentally engaged the pad? Pulling on the gain knobs will turn on a -20 dB pad.

That firmware update appears to be from 2007, updated in 2010. im sure the mbox has worked since then. And from everything else i've read the firmware is up to date.
I noticed that when i unplug the mbox and plug it back in that the levels on the control panel flash up to yellow. with the mic/line im barley getting anything in the green.

The pads are not engaged. The gain knobs themselves have no effect on the signal level. set at 0 or 10 the signal level coming to the mbox control panel and to pt are the same. But if that pad is engaged that does effect the signal level.
