And has Thunderbolt 3, that is pretty embarrassing to Apple (even if Windows support fro Thunderbolt is still something that needs to improve). Apple badly need to refresh all of their computer product line up.

Also good to see it has PCIe 3.0 x 4 lane M.2 SSDs but it would be good to know which one exactly. That is one area where Apple has lead the way, but unfortunately with proprietary flavor of M.2 drives.

What people *think* is irrelevant. Nobody can just guess how well this or any other computer will run Pro Tools. You want to have somebody running Pro Tools OK on the exact computer you will get.

One of the main benefits of a MacBook Pro is so many users run them, Avid and third party plugin developers knows they need to test on them, etc.

Thanks Mr. Ramm. I know apple is kind of industry standard for sound recording. And you make a very good point about plugin co. testing on an apple. I really like the $2000 savings. Truthfully , though in my heart I feel my recordings are worth something,, I am after all (since I have no record deal or publishing deal) a hobbiest:) so I will continue to research my purchase and try to weigh all the pros and cons. thank you so much for your continued great input.

If the store has a return policy, just try the Windows laptop - doing all the Avid optimizations and more before installing Pro Tools. Ask questions here if you have issues. If you absolutely can't get it to work, restore it to factory and return it.

FWIW, a friend of mine has an ASUS ROG laptop he's had for 3 or 4 years. He drags it from home to work and back 5 days a week as well as doing freelance work almost every day (radio imaging). The only issue he's ever had - after I set it up for him - has been one or two user errors and an interface driver issue. Even his Scarlett 2i2 runs flawlessly. PT 11x BTW.

Get a second hand Mac if $$$ are the issue? I bought a 13" 2012 MBP earlier this year for £500 and it was like new. Works like a dream.

Choose the red pill! You won't regret it.

Mr. Maltastudio

I commonly record and mix 50 tracks + with 40+ plugins. So I am interested to know your opinion of this laptop for doing such and possibly making the lap top my main backbone of my projects.
