Default Instruments not opening properly

I recently bought a used SC II card with a ‘Q’ PCI Matchmaker chip. It has ended up in my P III 450, where it seemed to be OK, despite having the 'wrong' chip type.

Yesterday I tried loading up some instruments, and found I was being asked to locate samples. I duly pointed the program to the sample location, and SC Editor went right ahead and opened one sample for all keygroups.

I had de-fragged the night before, so I’m wondering if this could have caused the trouble.

So.....de-frag or PCI chip? Any ideas?

Thanks, BF.
