Fade Files 6.4... Pilot Error, Bug, or \"Feature\"?
Greetings
Maybe I AM overlooking something very simple in 6.4, but WHY is Pro Tools all of a sudden writing all my fade files to my HOME disc, rather than to the main session folder inside the "fades" folder where they belong? I recently upgraded to 6.4, is this a bug, a feature, or pilot error? This is ridiculous as it is filling up my home disc, as you can imagine, with hundreds of fade files. I did a DUC search but besides the fact that the new search version of the DUC is much less user friendly then when last i visited, I couldn't find any threads. Thanks for the help. Re: Fade Files 6.4... Pilot Error, Bug, or \"Featur
No it's not a new "feature"...
You should first check Disk allocation for those sessions. Disk allocation (just as it does for audio files) determines where fade files will be placed.

Re: Fade Files 6.4... Pilot Error, Bug, or \"Featur
Thanks for the reply. I have been using pro tools for years and this is set correctly. To the best of my knowledge there is no distinct allocation setting for just fade files. My allocation is correct, my session folder contains both an audio files and a fade files folder, and yet the session continues to create fade files onto my primary hard drive a the root level. Maybe these aren't fade files but something else? They all end in "0Rk" (just as some fade files in the session folder appear.) It's a mystery.
Just to clarify, this is not the system listed below, but is a G4 powerbook and an M-Box, 10.3.4 and 6, recording to the system drive for stereo editing, but that really shouldn't make a diff. The fade folder is created, but the fades don't go there. James embrionic.tv

The fades for a track are created on the drive allocated for that track. Check your drives' status in the Workspace Window under the A (for Audio) column.
