Level Metering
Maybe i'm really silly but i can't understand why if i use signal generator 1 KHz -20 db sine signal i got on the Output Master Fader -22.5 db. Everything is flat and also inserting some level meter plugin, i.e. Paz or Elemental audio, i got always the same results.
If i wanna to get -20 db at my speaker output, so at the output 1-2 of my 192 i/o should i set the signal generator to -17.5. Why? any help appreciated. Ciao, Eriberto

Re: Level Metering
Hi Eriberto,
When a mono bus is sent to a stereo track (in your case a stereo master fader) it is subject to "panning law". That means, if the mono bus is sent to center, it gets attenuated. In Pro Tools: 2,5 dB. If you pan the mono signal full to R or L, it gets full amplitude. Observe your master fader meters while you move the pan. Solution: put the Signal generator in a stereo track. Or two mono channels with signal generators panned hard L & R. Carles |
