Default Digi002 Rack Problem With Adat Interface Via O2R

Hopefully someone can help me. I recently upgraded from Digi001 and Pro Tools V6 to Digi002 Rack and Pro tools V7. I have the 8 I/O optical hooked up via an ADAT card on my O2R to the Digi002 Rack. When I have the O2R setup to Record Direct through the analogue input to the Adat optical, Pro Tools receives continuous clicks and pops and wants to revert to internal clock instead of ADAT. Sample rates are all set to 44.1k and hardware is setup for RCA=SPDIF and ADAT=Optical. I didn't have this problem with Digi001 and V6. It worked fine. Is there something I am missing?

Cheers
Dave

I think the only way you can expand the 002R is to use a mic preamp that has an ADAT optical output and connect directly to the 002R. So, preamps like Behringer ADA8000, M-Audio Octane, or Presonus Digimax would work. I could be wrong, but I don't think the 002R will work with an ADAT card.

This should work - are you making sure to set the clock in Pro Tools to sync to the incoming ADAT signal? In Hardware Setups, make sure that Clock Source is set to ADAT/Optical, then try again.

Yes, It should work. I had it working fine with 001. Yes, the setting in Hardware is set to Adat/Optical. If I arm tracks ready to record via adat inputs in PT, as soon as I hit the "Direct" button on the O2R digital i/o to allow signal to go straight through the analogue input to the Adat input into 002 Pro-Tools says it has to revert to internal clock source and the clicks and pops continue. Another strange thing...we were experiencing tiny dropouts during playback from Pro-tools and as soon as we unplugged the Adat Optical from O2R to Digi002, changed Pro-tools to internal clock the problem ceased. Playback via Adat to the O2R is fine though. Weird?
