Default ProTools 11 HD First Impressions

So now that the cat is out of the bag I figure its time to post some thoughts on the new toy.

Dunno if its just me but color me impressed. Theres definitely a different sound to this new version of ProTools. Also love the new metering. Have yet to try video but so far I'm liking what I'm seeing and hearing. Running a 176.4 kHz session with 40 plus tracks at the minimum buffer size is also quite satisfying.

Any thoughts?

Seems plugins clip/overdrive at much higher levels. At least to my ears thats what it sounds like. I don't sum in ProTools but track by track processing is def. different.

Hey boom,

Really happy you're digging it but the only sonic difference should be between using a floating point-based PT rig vs. one that is fixed point. E.g. Pro Tools|HD Accel runing PT10 or earlier vs. any native-based PT rig or HDX/HD Native.

Really huh. Dunno maybe my ears are fooling me but I definitely hear a difference between 10 and 11. Perhaps its psychological from not seeing those nasty red clips when you drive a plug too hard.
