Which audio card to replace the 003 rack+

Hi the 003 rack+ is no longer compatible with pro tools 12.8, which means I will have to replace it quite soon. Which external card would you recommend to replace it? I do NOT have pro tools HD ...I need a very good sound and a 96KHz recording possibilty but I do not need a lot of inputs ...2or 4 microphones inputs with preamps....and most of all : no latency !

I am using windows 7 pro
A pc with Intel core I5 with 8GB Ram

Yes but those have the gain control in the computer, I'd rather have those on the card itself....but they are in my price range...

Do you think an Antelope Zen studio would work with pro tools? There is no reference to it on this site

With certain MOTU interfaces you can control things via the front panel. Not easy but it can be done. I'd suggest one of the MOTU 828 boxes; some of this is going to depend on what you have on the computer as to interfaces - USB2 or Firewire.

With Avid, "is not supported" and "does not work" are two different things. The 002 has not been supported for years, but still worked. "Is not supported" basically means you're on your own and the transition to "does not work" can happen any time without notice. If you've been happy with the 003, try the 003 with 12.8 and see how you do before any new purchase.

You're right ....I tried the 003 and it still works ,but the only problem is : it only works in 44.1 Khz....and I prefer recording in 48Khz....I have tried to uninstall the 12.8 and reinstall the 12.7.1 (where the 003 still works perfectly) but the software doesn't even open and gives me an error message so I am stuck with the 12.8 ....

If the 003 is selected in the Windows Sound control panel (not even sure there is a 003 WDM driver), that could be the reason it's limiting you to 44k. If so select something else.
