Default Mirrored G4 - chipsets to avoid

I know this information is here somewhere but i can't seem to find it.

Could someone remind me of the "bad" 867MHZ DP chipsets & where to look for them on the motherboard.

We have two unco-operative DP 867s here at the college i work at.

thanks,

I don't believe there's any visible signs you can check for, there wasn't any change in serial number or anything as far as I know. I think you might be referring to the 'chipset' of the digi001 card - initially it seemed that the problem only affected certain cards, but in the end it turned out that it doesn't matter which version of the 001 you have, it's all about whether or not you have the updated motherboard.

If your machines aren't working, call applecare (1-800-APL-CARE) and arrange for a repair.

the problem is: every mdd mac has the same problem. it's on the logicboard..not the cpu chip
the newer generation of digi001-pci-cards have a chip wich coops with the new mdd logicboards..the older one's doesn't.
if your mac hangs up at digiinit with the card build in, and starts without troubles with the card out, you'r infectet.
then u have to phone apple care (look at the apple hp for the number)..for europe they have their office in ireland..and you just get different operators for each country.
then mention "digidesign digi001" this is important...they ask you then to pull out the pci card and start again....and to put it back and start again...then the error shows up again...etc. and then, u'll be sent to a aplle-repair-shop to get a new logic-board.
i had to wait 3weeks for it.
but now...it functions. (g4mdd1ghz)

good luck!
