Consistant error 6104 and 6101 on Quad Core
Hi Everyone, I seem to be having some trouble that I have looked for DAYS to try to figure out. I keep receiving the h/w buffer error and the cpu overload error.
The funny thing is, while i am recording i am checking out my specs and i'm not even using 15% power. I am currently running mac osx and pro tools 8.0 LE with a 2.4Ghz Genuine Intel Core 2 QUAD Kentsfield 65nm QUAD-core processor 1066Mhz Front Side Bus 4GB DDR2 800Mhz RAM 500GB 7200RPM Serial ATA 3GB/s hard drive (western digital) nVidia GeForce 8800GS 192-bit 3D Graphics with 384MB GDDR2 RAM DVD-RW Drive Built-in 802.11 b/g wireless networking with 10/100/1000BASE-T Ethernet Two FireWire 400 ports (One 6-pin and One 4-pin) and Four USB 2.0 ports The motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-P31-S36. Any help at all will be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much! |

Re: Consistant error 6104 and 6101 on Quad Core
Are you only using that (1) hard-drive for your operating system AND your recording? If so, you NEED another drive...... But until then, I'm willing to bet your current hard-drive is heavily fragmented.

i am using the same drive, but it had 50 gigs of partitioned space just for recording. I also tried it on another drive and recieved the same problem.

Re: Consistant error 6104 and 6101 on Quad Core
Partitioning drives are, no offense, a waste of time and resources.....it's still the same hard-drive, only it looks like (2) drives. IMHO, I'd re-format the hard-drive, load only the operating system and software, and then put either a Glyph firewire drive on it. Do you have a "Hackintosh" or an actual MacPro?
Aside from that.....does this happen when you move the mouse or the cursor jumps on the screen? Perhaps you're pulling up a new window during playback? I did some testing recently of a particular NVidia card that was just NOT agreeing with ProToolsHD. The slightest screen-redraw aside from meters would cause it to stop playing. Also, drop down a processor to (3) processors and see if that helps. |

Re: Consistant error 6104 and 6101 on Quad Core
Yea besides that i still tried to use a different drive for recording with no success.
I have a pc running an efi-x, so its not technically a hackintosh because there is no patching required, but its not a mac pro either. I am really thinking its the graphics card and i might go buy a new one. I have heard a lot of pro tools users have problems with it. |
