Default Midi and Protools

Hi, i just recently purchased a M-Audio Axiom 49 midi keyboard. The only program i currently am able to sample from is garage band (i know it sucks but w/e). Anyway when i open protools after setting up the sample on garage band, i create a new midi track. I click record and whats coming from garage band gets recorded onto protools. The only problem is i cant play it back after its on protools... its just really weird to me. I see the dots show up so it definately recorded i just dont understand why it wont play it back, ive been looking through everything i can and i just cant find the answer... thanks if u can help.

edit: im an idiot, but still need help. Apparently the sound from garage band wasnt going through to protools... just protools was taking down the keys i hit but no sound was actually attached to this. In other words i shut off garage band and saw the same results. Soooo my overall question is how do i record sounds from garage band into protools... or is it even possible? I thought i saw a record what u hear feature but im running a mac and dont know how to achieve this.

sorry, it's not possible. garage is a completely different application than protools.
