Installation problems
I am having a hell of a time installing my M-Audio FW 410. I followed the directions a hundred times and I am still stuck. This is the process I have been following:
- Download latest FW 410 driver from M-Audio.com - Install drivers - Shut down computer completely - Connect Firewire 410, switch power on - Restart computer ... nothing No "new hardware found". I have tested this on 2 different computers and get the same results. The power LED on my device is a quick consistant blinking. Anyone? Please? (I am a very experience user. Long time Pro Tools LE user (001, 002, 002R, Mbox) and Computer Science graduate.) |

Re: Installation problems
And nothing shows up in the Hardware Manager?
If not I would say defective device, cable or port. Unless your Plug and Play service is disabled. |

Re: Installation problems
Plug and play is up and running. Both my iLoks showed up. Tried multiple cables and multiple ports (and multiple computers).
Bad device? |

Re: Installation problems
The FW 410 may be defective. Did you talk to M-audio tech support?

Re: Installation problems
I haven't contacted them yet. I wanted to see if anyone had any ideas first. Thanks.

Re: Installation problems
well, i was gonna help you tell you admitted your a CS graduate ;-) .. j/k ..
i'm a techgeek too. i think that flashing LED is not a good sign. i've got a FW1814 .. the power light comes on ..as the computer boots .. all LEDs light, go out .. and then each led lights in-turn in a pattern. the only time i get a flashing LED is when it can't find a word clock (sync problem with external clock). i assume you've used your FW interface for other devices? i'd start simple ... and eliminate the obvious .. bad cable, power, firewire interface, etc. a bummer for sure.. ;-( jeff |
