Default focusrite mixmaster versus software

i do a lot of soundboard recording to md and dat. gives me good results. now i'm wondering how to improve my sound. i was looking at the mixmaster and like the features. for MY purpose it's ok. i do NOT tend to be a mastering engineer but just want some multi band compressiom sometimes and some level to be tamed/pumped so i can burn a more coherent cd to give to the bands. is there a way in protools le or other (like bias deck) and what are suggested plug ins? looking for something in the 500euro range. just started thinking about this because i wanne prevent an extra AD and DA conversion step (like with the mixmaster). any insights are very welcome.

in terms of RTAS multi-band compressors, the ones that come to mind are..

Waves C4 (also found as part of the Gold Bundle). it's pretty good.

Waves Linear Multi-Band (also found as part of the Masters Bundle). it's great.

haven't used the focusrite or any hardware MB comps thou.
