Default Lets share our favorite VI's/Sample Libraries

Hello

Lets share our favorite VI's/Sample Libraries. I'll start:

Piano
Galaxy Pianos Vienna Grand - sampled Boesendorfer piano.

Strings
Session Strings Pro, Symphobia 2

Bass
Scarbee Rickenbaker Bass

Drums - Acoustic
Supperior Drummer 2, Addictive Drums 2.

Drums - Electronic
Stylus RMX

Percussion
EzDrummer 2(for shaker and tambourine)
Stylus RMX - Groove Elements for Bongos, Congas, Claps, Shakers, Tambourine etc.

Synths
Nexus 2

Guitars
For some mock-up GTRS I use Xpand 2 (ye I know) but those always get re-recorded with my PRS going into an AXE FX 2.

Let us know your favorite go to VI's and libraries!

+1 for Nexus2 and Addictive Drums 2

Also Sylenth1, Spire, Tone2, Rob Papen and Serum aswell as hardware stuff.

Strings and orchestral stuff www.8dio.com

Stylus is nice but we usually do those beats ourselves with Kontakt5 and Damage from NI.

Percussion we use soo many different libs but mainly Vengeance and Spire Samples.

Piano - Alicias Keys NI and 8DIO pianos which sound Fantastic!

Samplers - Vengeance Sound PhalanX and Kontakt5

Guitars - Only real guitarists all the way. Samle guitars sound too stale and you can spot them a mile away!

I like NI Evolve a lot for special effects, and nothing beats Ivory American Steinway. Oh, and anything spitfireaudio.com ever releases...

I'll add +1 to Nexus 2 for synth/techno type sounds.

Serum is great too.

2 of my go to VIs are Omnisphere for a wide range of libraries available for it, especially with 2.0. And AIR Transfuser, which I use all the time. The ability to import your own samples and then do all sorts of creative things with them to create grooves is unbeatable in Transfuser.

Piano - NI NY Grand in Kontakt 5
Bass - Scarbee Rick Bass when I don't feel like dragging out my Fender Jazz Bass
Drums - BFD3
Synth - Synthmaster, Arturia Moog Modular, Reason's Thor rewired
Guitar - any of the Strats I own

Just to widen the range, rather than just endorse the stuff already mentioned, even though I have many of those too ...

All the Ilya Efimov libraries for Kontakt are excellent, for those folky sounds ... the Accordion and Bayan are simply phenomenal, not just for their sound quality, but for their ability to present you with a way of very easily and accurately emulating the real thing.

I love my G-Force VI too .... impOSCar, Virtual String Machine and M-Tron Pro, impOSCar still via Blue Cat or VE Pro for the moment, no AAX yet. As someone who owned a real OSCar from new, I can attest that G-Force's emulation is fabulous.

(my biggest regret is selling my OSCar to a wealthy friend, with the caveat that I'd have first refusal on any subsequent sale of it, only for him to later sell it on for a very big profit without even telling me until a year or so later, when I asked to borrow to use on a recording session)

Piano: There are a lot of good ones out there but for my latest few projects I've been leaning on NI's The Giant.

Strings: I use EWQL Hollywood. Only negative is the Play engine. Hopefully Play Pro will be out next year. It's 'coming soon'...

Bass: Trilian.

Drums: BFD3 (great sound, horrible GUI), Slate SSD for quick demo stuff.

Electronic Drums: Transfuser & Battery.

Percussion: EWQL SD2 & Hollywood Percussion, Transfuser

Synths: Too many good ones to narrow down but recent projects have used Gravity, Signal & Hybrid. I seem to use Xpand2 (yes, really!) in nearly all my projects for one thing or another too. For pure synths though probably Hybrid2 gets the most use at the moment & I love the Arturia classics.

Guitars: For quick demo's & sketching ideas, Shreddage II through Guitar Rig or Waves GTR. Always replaced with the real thing for major projects though.

We'll never see Play Pro. At the beginning of this year Doug Rogers said they were working on it and it would be out before the end of this year (2015). Ain't happened yet. Those people have a nasty reputation of being way late with product.

Oh, we'll see it I'm sure (just not anytime soon). Did you not know that in Avid's dictionary under 'coming soon' it says 'see EastWest'???

One other VI I should mention is Synapse Audio Dune 2. This is a dynamite VI with a lot of depth and programmability. Rivals Spire and Sylenth in my book.
