Default Problems with the Mbox Mini 2

Alright so I record my song, It comes up on the screen with my takes. Now I go to play it and the bars are flashing up and down like music is coming out but nothing is coming out. I check its not on mute. It looks like it should be playing but it's not. What could it be? I have it on In 1 (Mono) and Out 1-2 (Stereo. I am using a Hp Pavilion 5215us. so any help would be great thanks!

Well if your not getting any error messages, and your able to see the led meters raise, i couldn't tell you what your problem could be but maybe some experts on here could. I'm guessing your on board sound card works so it's a problem with your on board sound card and pro tools itself.

How are your monitors connected?
How is your mix knob set?

With Pro Tools, you have to monitor through the Mbox Mini. The Audio can only
be routed through the interface. it's the way Pro Tools and the Mbox Mini are
designed. If you really need to monitor through your laptop's speakers, you'll
have to get a stereo Y cable and run from the Mini's outputs, and run into the
built in audio input on your laptop. You'll have to open the mixer in windows XP
under your sound card settings, and make sure the levels are'nt too hot. You'll have
to make sure the Mbox Mini's output is set really low so you don't overload.

This setup isn't really recomended but should get you through. Otherwise you should
invest in a small set of powered monitors to run off the Mini, or use headphones
though the mini's headphone output.

You won't hear Pro Tools audio through your laptop sound card.
The Mbox is your "sound card" for Pro Tools.
Think of it that way.

You can buy a 1/8" inch to 1/4" adapter for your headphones for a few bucks.

I don't wanna go out buyin adapters unless im sure that this is the problem and its gonna work haha but it appears that its the problem so i guess the only way to find out is buying the adapter. Then if it works I could buy better headphones or studio monitors.
