Avid Video Engine Won't Launch in 12.4

Trying a new thread on this in the hopes someone might be able to help, as I'm going bananas over here. (iMac Retina, late 2014, 500GB SSD boot, OS 10.10.1, 32GB RAM, PT 12.4, UAD Apollo8) Suddenly yesterday, after an overnight crash, the Avid Video Engine will not launch. Sure, it's always had the occasional clunkiness with varying codecs/etc, but it's never JUST NOT LAUNCHED. Whether trying to open a session with video (have tried varying types of video) or even creating a blank session with no video and trying to turn on the Video Engine, I just get the eternal taskbar. Have been poring over the forums, trying anything that seemed to work for others: reinstalling PT12.4; deleting PT prefs; deleting Users>Shared>AvidVideoEngine; stopping Quicktime-related processes in Activity Monitor; swapping in Avid Video Engine from PT>Package Contents>Frameworks on my laptop, which also runs 12.4 (but, no I can't just switch over to it for this current gig)). Is there something I'm overlooking or perhaps some magical combination and/or sequence of doing the above-listed things? Losing my mind here and all I want to do is wrap a very important gig so I can get paid and upgrade my outdated OS and PT, as was the plan. Figures this would happen now! Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi, it happens to me sometimes when I want to open a project with too much vsti (kontakt) loaded and the ram is saturated. I launch vsti with vienna ensemble pro, and I have to let some ram free to open a project with a video inside. Sometimes on windows 10, I have to reinstall quick time and pro tools in order the video engine to launch... The dependencies of quick time in pro tools are very annoying !
