Pro Tools 10 Using it and Loving it!
Hope you saw the webcast.
HERE IT IS FOR THOSE WHO MISSED IT: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PCHLNzhRdLs We at "The Dub Stage" have been on PT HD10 for quite a while and it rocks! Currently using it on a Huge Feature Film and it's rock solid!! The Disc Cache rules! HDX is gonna be amazing for those of us pushing our systems to the hilt. The new AAX plug ins are awesome along with the new Channel Strip from the System 5. Now we can have up to 12 systems to link with the new PT10HD. I'M LOVING IT!!

Cool Marti! Didn't see it but I'm sure you and Chris were great. Anyone got a link for the video?

Re: Pro Tools 10 Using it and Loving it!
So are you still using that HD 1 System via Satellite to playback your video? Or is there something in the future to playback and lock to picture?
Were you using the HDX cards on your new feature as well. BTW good to see you and Chris two weeks back. |

Re: Pro Tools 10 Using it and Loving it!
Dennis,
i have an NDA with Avid and can't discuss those things. I can say we use PT HD10 every day on every project. It was good to see you also.

Re: Pro Tools 10 Using it and Loving it!
Marti, you guys looked great!
I started downloading it before it was even announced (the website was a little ahead) I decided to take a risk and upgrade in the middle of a big project. (don't worry, I have 4 rooms.. it was an experiment) I've been on it all night. Wrapping up my first PT10 project now and my first impression is WOW.. it is freaking fast. I can't believe how much time I was wasting waiting on the software. It feels so fresh and fast. My speed is immediately up by 20%.. no joke. I'm very very happy. I'm going to upgrade the whole studio within the next few days. |

Buy some Ram from OWC. We did. Each of our systems have 24 gigs of ram and it makes a HUGE difference!!

Re: Pro Tools 10 Using it and Loving it!
Glad it has some positives. I wasn't seeing a lot that made me want to up date and then I saw the price! $1K for a software upgrade? And still no bins.
Clip gain is a plus. Speed could be a seller though. But yikes ,that's three times what it cost to go to 9HD. Is the next update going to be three grand? If I'm packed with work and it really is that much faster then I'm all over it. But I suspect there are a lot of editors out there that have seen their business settle down with the economy and this is a hard one to swallow. Plus they just made this the EOL for another big block of hardware. Sheesh it's like I'm in visual FX ;~) (If I was too obtuse their hardware goes out of date by the time it's installed...) |

Re: Pro Tools 10 Using it and Loving it!
Thanks for the info Marti. I just ordered a PT10HD to test out. My dealer does not have the prices yet. If it is good, then we'll upgrade the other rooms.
Not too sure to bite the bullet now or wait till the HDX cards come out and upgrade then. I am glad so many positives. If it is good we'll switch the facility over though with 10 rooms it is a big chunk of change at $1K each. Too bad Mac RAM is so expensive where I am. Will do the 24GB as you recommend when I get back Stateside. So when you were running PT10HD was that on your current hardware or on the new cards? Or is this NDA as well. I am very excited as well to test it out. Again thanks for sharing. You lucky Beta Testers. |
