Default Stand by mode with the Mbox 2

Hi,
I'm fairly new to using Pro Tools. I just got the Mbox 2 for windows XP. I noticed that when the Mbox 2 is plugged in that Stand By is not possible. This is fairly inconvenient for me, because I am using a laptop and I frequently stand by all day. I could understand if you weren't allowed to stand by when Pro Tools is running, but it's really annoying that I can't stand by just to check my e-mail for example.

Is there any way to force the computer into stand by mode without having to unplug the Mbox 2. It probably isn't great for the computer to be plugging/unplugging USB cables all the time.

Any help would be appreciated. I did a fairly thorough search through the forums, and I noticed others had this problem, but there are no answers on how to fix this.

Thanks!
Jamie
