Default Supported Firewire harddrives???

Can yall shoot me some of the best and reasonably priced firewire harddrives that are supported by PT LE? I am in the market and need to do some research pretty quickly!

Glyph (best but too expensive)
LaCie (works but quite a few reports of failure)
OWC (best value IMHO and my choice. you may need to reformat as they usually format for Mac). Go here and read down the right side column.

Lots of LaCie come though the studio. Haven't had one fail here.

Ok i looked up all of the above mentioned. but what about the Maxtor one touch 4 plus? or the western digital my book home edition? what is yalls feedback on devices like those.....also how much memory would you suggest or does it make a difference?

Whats up man, I was gonna get a western digital my book hard drive but one of my buddies showed me this one. It has all the right things Pro Tools wants Firewire,Oxford Chipset,160 GB, 7200 RPM and its cheap.I'd recommend it

That drive is an 80GB. Not that much for the money. I picked up a MyBook 1TB Firewire/eSATA for $200. at Costco. It works as well as any of my other externals.

do you think that 500 GB would be ok for someone who is not going to be recording on the side and has a 500 Gb usb drive to backup files onto. Like myself?

500 gig is plenty. I still have space on a 320gig drive. You could probably set aside a partition of 100 gig for a backup image of your system drive and a place to keep copies of important stuff.
