11R headphone output impedance
Needing a new pair of cans. My old AKG K270's died on me a while back and I've been using my wife's K271's. Despite having spent time to learn their sound I still have issues. I've been looking at two cans: Neumann NDH20 and Ultrasone 880 both priced at $500 US. Impedance of the Neumanns is 150 ohms and the 880's are 32 ohms. The 271's are 55 ohms.
For many reasons I like the specs and reviews of the Ultrasone 880's but will the 11 Rack drive them to enough volume? I don't need earsplitting levels and their description of how they drivers are setup says I can run at lower volume levels. Combine that with the low emc/emr emmissions and they're not Chinese made and I down with that. Considering that most places won't take headphones back under even the best of circumstances I figured I'd ask the brain trust here. Not looking for opinions of any of the 'phones. |
