Thanks for that info darkgoob.

For many of those reasons (& running on a laptop & longing for longer battery life) I backed up my system, took the plunge & went to Mavericks, after reading the Avid support document (here)on the "known issues," which boiled down to the possibility of getting more CPU overload errors. I set PT & Ableton to ignore App Nap, and have had no issues whatsoever, not even one CPU overload. Just For Y'all's Information...

BTW, I also haven't noticed any battery life improvements...

Oliver
Not only a few months, but even MORE months for all the bugs on both ends to get fixed. This has been going on since... computers came out... and will continue probably forever. I hope this is not a news flash for anyone.

I'm an idiot... I'm completely new to Mac and Pro Tools (was using Sonar on PC) and I saved my money up forever and bought a whole system at once. Got a 27" iMac, Pro Tools 11 w/eleven rack and got a digi 003 workstation I should receive today that I got on ebay.

My iMac showed up a couple days before my Pro Tools and when I saw I could upgrade OS for free, my train of thought was to go ahead and get it out of the way. I now realize the error in that. When Pro Tools came in and I went to download drivers, I found out about them not approving OS X 10.9 yet.

So after talking to the Apple support, it sounded like it was going to be difficult to downgrade back to ML because I didn't make a backup before I downloaded Mavericks (once again, I know, I'm an idiot).

I went ahead and installed Pro Tools after reading this thread and seeing a couple people have zero issues with it. It was very late last night by the time I got home and got everything hooked up and installed, but before I went to bed, I did record a quick 15 second guitar track and I got the 6101 error they warned about several times. It said to reduce # of plug-in's, reduce # of tracks or increase buffer size. Had no plug-in's running, only one track and I tried every buffer size and everyone of the returned same error. I didn't mess with too much else last night because it was so late.

So when I get home tonight, is there something I can do to possibly remedy this or should I focus my efforts on getting back to Mountain Lion?

Also, since posting this, I now see this other thread on potential audio problems with fusion drives on the new iMac's, which I got a 1tb fusion drive. Don't know if this could be relevant to my problem??

It could be if you're trying to record to the fusion drive. You should have an external drive to record to.

I've used the "Pro Tools Aggregate Device" (not sure exact name) which is the built-in input + output. I have done some mixing with this device with no problem. Haven't tried recording anything.

Leonard: Did you try turning off "App Nap" for Pro Tools? In Finder, go to Applications/Pro Tools. Control-Click it and open Information. Inside there, there's an option to disable App Nap. That might help... Let me know.

Huzzam: I had turned that off, but between this issue and seeing others having audio playback issues with the new fusion drives, I took my iMac back and swapped it for a new one without fusion drive, that also got me back into Mountain Lion. Thanks for the reply!
