trying to find that \"walkie talkie\" sound
I'm trying to EQ someone talking through a cell phone, is there a good frequency I should boost/attenuate? I dropped the lows and boosted the highs a bit, it sounds OK but i want that real cell phone sound. any tips? thanks.

Hint #4:
look at hints #'s 1, 2, 3 and #5. Hint #5: finish it off with a punch-up from the affordably-priced Tape-Head.

I'm looking for more of a frequency range I can work with. I think I found something that works, just wanted to know if you guys have a "template" or anything that you use.

Re: trying to find that \"walkie talkie\" sound
The cell phone sound is more than just EQ. If you have Lo-Fi, try reducing the sample size to 6 bits. On the EQ, set a high pass at 300 Hz and a low pass at about 4 kHz. Then, top it off by throwing in a bit of a phase shift and a tad of distortion.
If you don't have Lo-Fi, you can still reduce the sample size to 8 bits by bouncing to disc at that resolution. Here's another possibility. If you happen to have a digital answering machine, call the number and play back the audio while you record the answering machine speaker with a mic. |

There are a hundred ways to do a phone futz. We're trying to give you some hints to make it sound believable. Sounds like your EQ band-pass filter will be fine for what you're doing. That's actually the most common way to skin that cat.
