Great idea...too bad its based on Ivybridge. My opinion only, but socket 2011 i7 and x79 motherboard is the only combo I would buy today.

But would that combo work as a Hackintosh? On a recent podcast from Pro Tools Expert they talked about this computer and one of the things stressed was that the components are/were picked so OSX compatibility was paramount. I know the piece linked to here only shows Windows but OSX is also in the mix for this box.

The LGA socket 2011 i7 and X79 boards are listed on the tonymacx86 board as Hackintosh builds (for use with Mountain Lion).

.......and Haswell is coming out so prices might be dropping on the 2011's as well but who knows what time frame


I have heard that the predecessor to the x3990k is in beta
