Ok... This is really annoying. This past weekend, my mbox 3rd generation began this flashing chasing lights thing and after installing, uninstalling, and reinstalling all the drivers and drivers updates, it still didn't work. Then, suddenly, after a couple days and after doing nothing, it just started working again for no reason at all! Then... It stopped. Does anybody have any idea what's going on with this fickle device?

Have you disabled power saving on your USB root hubs?

I have a MacBook Pro. How would I do this? Do you think it would help? I have seen several people in duc mentioning that they have spoken to a mythical Avid rep over the phone but every time I call, I'm screened out due to not having an Avid support code. Is there any way to just consult with a rep and bypass that thing?
Thanks!

Default MBox 3rd Gen. Flashing Lights Win.7

I was using my MBox yesterday and in the middle of my session, my Mbox crashed. All I see on my Mbox are flashing lights. I have tried the following:

1) Unplugged the Mbox and connected it to a different usb port & a different computer. MBox still flashes on a different computer.

2) I uninstalled and reinstalled my USB ports

3) Uninstalled and reinstalled pro tools and MBox drivers.

4) Used a powered USB hub

I was unable to get it to work. Can someone PLEASE help me

I am running Pro Tools 8 LE on Windows 7

ok im having the same problem as you guys now Ive been exchanging emails back and forth with avid reps and this is what i've concluded

because this was a new machine im using and its never worked on it they were quick to say its a hardware issue and had to send it in for repair

BUT
im using a macbook pro running OSx 10.7.5 and when i uninstalled all the drivers and just plugged the mbox in i get the sequence of lights again -ok

So i tried it on a i7 mackbook pro running OSX 10.8 with drivers installed then driver uninstalled and got the same thing sequence of light again SSSSOOOOOOO
I then got my hands on a old style MacBook (not Pro white hard case) running 10.6.8 what the mbox 3g was built for plugged it in and the sequence happened but after one cycle the solid power blue light came on ....soooo i installed the drivers and BAM it works great so we can rule out hardware issue

I tried the power hub that didnt work ether

and i just read somewhere it could be the OS ur running 32bit verses 64 bit?
So its only safe to Assume Im having a compatibility issue?

In my case, I don't think its system compatibility. I have been using my MBox 3rd gen for 3 years on this same laptop. How did you get in contact with Avid reps? I can't seem to get in contact with them
