How much RAM to get?
I have Pro Tools LE 7.4 with an mBox 2 Preference Pane. I want to get a newer used computer that will give me enough memory/RAM to run say 46 tracks with four individual stereo effects for say reverb and what not, and as many eq's and limiters per track as I want. About how much memory would get me through without getting CPU overload errors? 4? 16? 32? more?
Thanks. Dave R |

Re: How much RAM to get?
Since 7.x is a 32 bit app, I see no point in going crazy with RAM(unless you see an update in the near future) Also, there's more to it that the amount of RAM with regards to how many tracks you can run. What kind of tracks? How many plugins(and which as some use very little, and others use a lot). I suggest giving us more details on what you want to run, and what computer you are thinking of buying?
You also must consider what OS this new(er) computer will come with as 7.4 might not be compatible(like Mavericks on a Mac or Windows 7 on a PC)
